We
are a voluntary, community owned and run organization formed for the
purpose of reducing crime in the areas served by the Breton RCMP
Detachment. We hope to affect anyone (village and acreage residents,
farmers, ranchers & businesses) that have an interest in their
community. We believe that crime is less likely to occur in a
community where people are alert to the potential for crime and are
willing to look out for each other and work closely with the local
RCMP. Statistics show that in areas where there is an organized
Crime Watch, there has been significant reduction in criminal
activity.
The
current Executive took office in 2012 and has spent much of the last
year resurrecting the Association. We have established a membership
base of 130 community families and 6 corporate members. We have
given members access to signs to post at their gates and along their
fence lines. We have established a schedule of community meetings (3
per year) and Board meetings (6 per year) to keep members informed
and connected. We have increased the number of Directors from 6 to
10 in an effort to have broader representation in each of the
community areas of our Association. We have joined forces with
Tomahawk Rural Crime Watch Society on a telephone fan-out program.
Family
memberships (per household) are $25 and span a lifetime.
Corporate/Business memberships (home-based included) are $100
annually.
As
Rural Crime Watch members, we are making a positive difference
through our actions. Our goal is to make our community a better and
safer place and we’d like you to be part of that.
